In most churches, praise is what you sing when you’re in church or when you thank God for looking out for you. But God calls us to praise him 24/7 in everything we do. Praise is not what we do, it’s how we live. Our praise is simple and straightforward because it’s not about us singing pretty songs and feeling some emotional high because we sang a slow song with pretty lyrics. Our praise is fully and wholly focused on God and God alone. Yeah, we sing a mix of modern songs you hear on the radio and songs that are traditional hymns with a modern flavor, but that’s only one part of our praise. We want our lives to be a reflection of Christ. In short, we praise by actually doing what God wants, looking for His help, and letting others know exactly how cool a Savior He really is. As with everything we do at NYMC, simple excuses and answers won’t work for us. Our praise has to be complete and has to be about God, not about a feeling or an emotion.
